Fall Facet Fashion Show: Chenai Designs, Sumahrie Collections and Christina Lowanga

Hi guys! Let’s add a lil spice to the week, shall we? Today I will be reviewing collections from 3 designers that brought the African flavor to the Facet Fashion Show Fall Edition! From the music playing (Yeah I was singing and dancing while watching the show lol) to the pieces hitting the runway, these talented ladies did their thing and made Mama Afrika proud! I really appreciated how they all took African prints and mixed them with current trends like crop tops, high low skirts, jumpsuits, leather pants and peplum. Enjoy and please comment below to let me know which pieces are your favorites! XO!

Liked this jumpsuit

~ Chenai, meaning “look good” from the Shona language of Zimbabwe is designed for fashion forward people who like statement pieces with bold and colorful prints.  ~

Love the vest

This cropped jacket!

Loved this jumper
Chenai Designs’s clothes were the product of a marriage between African and western culture. She took Ankara fabrics to another level by creating current /trendy pieces with African fabrics and it worked! From her peplum dress to her ankara jumpers, Chenai's collection screamed hip and current! Will definitely be on the look out for her.

Leather jogger pants, yes!

For the Bold and Confident only, Nice!

Designer Thabiso Mawema with her models. Sorry for the poor quality, my camera was acting up

Yes hunty!
love this, his and hers

Now this is an Ankara dress
Having modeled for this designer several times (Picture here), I have to say that I love Mahriama not only as a designer but also as a person. She’s intimidating at first glance (because she is very professional lol) but once you get to know her, she’s the sweetest woman ever and a delight to work for <3.

This dress was everything!
Another his and hers
Miss Dunnie O flaunting(and rightly so) her Sumahrie's design with designer Mahriama
Now on to the collection lol I really enjoyed how playful and unique each of Sumahrie's designs were.  She describes it best: “The Sumahrie brand is feminine, chic, unique, no two styles are the same.  We blend traditional African fashion with western influence fashion and marry colors that are opposite to create rich revolutionary, bold and vibrant pieces.”  Well Done love!

The top part of this dress gave me life

As a designer, you've always got to push yourself forward; you've always got to keep up with the trends or make your own trends. That's what I do. ~ Alexander McQueen.

Ankara Harem Pants <3

My dress! Yes, I've tried it on and it fits lol One of the perks of knowing the designer personally :-)

These Ankara Skorts have my name all over them

This collection was a hit! Can you say Fashion-forward? Christina Lowanga is definitely a trendsetter! Each piece on the runway was unique and had the quality and level of risk that fashion-forward people and fashion lovers would appreciate. I was very impressed with the workmanship in some of her pieces as well notably on the finale feather dress, the skort, the men’s leather harem pans and both short dresses.
This look was everything and the model rocked it

The cut-out lace and feather finale dress was amazing
It was such an honor being invited to cover the Facet Fashion Show and also experiencing live a family member living their dreams! Yes, Christina Lowanga is family to me and I am very proud of the young and gifted-talented woman that she is.  Très bon boulot ma Cherie, You made us all proud, especially your FC! <3 Watch out world, Christina Lowanga is here to stay!
